Abstrak – Hollow fiber membranes are widely applied in the health field, especially for hemodialysis. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the coagulant bath temperature and the air gap on the mechanical properties of cellulose acetate hollow fiber membranes prepared for hemodialysis application. The membranes prepared contained 22 % of cellulose acetate, 51 % of acetone, and 27 % of formamide. They were printed by the phase inversion method at five coagulant bath temperature values of 5°C, 10°C, 15°C, 20°C, and 25°C with air gap distance of 10 cm, 15 cm, 20 cm, 25 cm, and 30 cm. The membranes tensile test as well as their performance determined by flux, rejection and morphology were carried out by SEM. The average pore size obtained referred to 45 nm. The optimum values were provided in the course of coagulation at a bath temperature of 5°C and an air gap distance of 25 cm. They referred to thickness of 0.28 mm, stress of 2,879.58 N/m2, strain of 0.179, Young modulus of 14617.16 N/m2, urea flux of 49.4 L/m2h and rejection of 19.65 %.
